But in the end I was so pleased with how it turned out and I think sometimes being strict with your words can really help keep the story focused. I look forward to reading some of your work too.

Very concise, with the “monster” suitably obscured through the mundane. A better horror in a few paragraphs than some accomplish with a novel.
